The next step was to develop and write a technical specification for a revised and extended version of the existing database and ancillary systems. The draft model proposed by FNA Ltd went far in excess of what the DFRS had anticipated, potentially opening up an array of opportunities for future streamlining of operations. "We have had experience of other suppliers in this market before and had not been overly impressed. Many of them seem to lack focus and vision and simply wanted to apply what they had in-house to our operations; this is where FNA Ltd stood out from the rest. They came up with an outline solution that was fresh and full of ideas. We felt they were not burdening us with something they wanted to sell to us but instead shared a mutual vision," says Pete Stanley.

The technical specification developed by FNA Ltd has the potential to take DFRS into new territory when it comes to managing business information. Instead of the basic database and information management system they had relied on, the Service has been offered the prospect of a new and potentially dynamic system that can handle critical information management, allows additional information reporting, quality and assurance throughout the organisation, projected information reports as well as costing forecasts.
